Looking back at the scientific conference 'The interface between movement disorders and technology'

On Thursday November 18th Movement Disorders Groningen, in collaboration with ZiuZ Visual Intelligence, organized the conference ‘The Interface between Movement Disorders and Technology’. We were able to welcome 65 people live in Leeuwarden and approximately 75 people attended online. During the day presentations were given on movement disorder related topics. For each type of movement disorder there was a lecture from the clinical perspective and a technical perspective. Besides the scientific input, also several companies gave a presentation on new solutions that can be used.

The day was opened by the mayor of Leeuwarden, Sybrand Buma. Afterwards, the program started with a lecture from prof. dr. Marina de Koning-Tijssen on the Next Move in Movement Disorders, the NEMO project. Dr. Ioannis Giotis from ZiuZ told the audience about the technical pipeline for this project and showed some of the first results. Other topics that were discussed were tremor and the use of imaging and DBS, Cerebral palsy and gait analysis, wearables and Parkinson’s disease, and the final topic was eye movements.
