Double research grant from the Dutch Parkinson society
The Parkinson research of Movement Disorders Groningen was awarded with two research grants both worth € 40.000. With this money, two of the ongoing research lines on hallucinations and deep brain stimulation in Parkinson’s disease got a new impulse.
With the grant money a new project on the effect of apomorfine on visual hallucinations and a project on intelligent brain stimulation can be realised. The main aim of the apomorfine study is to see whether this drug can also reduce visual hallucinations next to its established role in treating motor symptoms. The main aim of the study on intelligent brain stimulation is to see whether a current treatment, deep brain stimulation, can be made more efficacious, safe and efficient by only stimulating when and where necessary.
