Dr. R.B. Huitema
Dr. R.B. (Rients) Huitema is a clinical neuropsychologist and manager of the Neuropsychology sub-department of the Neurology department at the UMCG. He studied Clinical Psychology with specializations in Neuropsychology and Methodology at the University of Groningen. In 2004 he obtained his PhD for his research into the recovery of walking in stroke patients and the influence of visual cognitive impairment on hierarchy. Since 2005 working as a neuropsychologist at the Department of Neurology in the UMCG. Here he conducts neuropsychological diagnostics by adult neurological patients and is closely involved in the multidisciplinary screening of patients with Parkinson's disease who come into feedback for a DBS. His interest lies in the cognitive and behavioural consequences of the disease and the influence that a DBS can have hierarchically. He is involved in several scientific studies in patients with Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, dystonia, CVA and dementia.
