Dr. R.A. Lambrechts

Situated inbetween the Cell Biology and the Neurology Department, my research focuses on pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), a rare neurodegenerative disease featuring brain iron accumulation. Using the tools available in the Cell Biology labs we study, both in vitro and in vivo, which processes derail in PKAN, and which treatment strategies may prove to be potentially fruitful.
